At Comfort Royalty Cavaliers, our focus has always been on producing healthy, well-structured, and exceptional-tempered Cavaliers through intentional, preservation-minded pairings. One question we are often asked is about registration.

AKC vs. APRI — What’s the Difference?

The American Kennel Club (AKC) is the most widely recognized registry in the United States. For a litter to be AKC registered, both the sire and the dam must be AKC registered.

Some of our foundation lines include dogs that are registered through APRI (American Pet Registry, Inc.). APRI is also a purebred dog registry. When an AKC-registered dog is paired with an APRI-registered dog, the litter is registered through APRI and comes with an official pedigree.

What This Means for Our Puppies

All of our dogs are purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

Our AKC × APRI litters are APRI registered and include pedigree documentation

Registration type does not change the health, quality, or temperament of your puppy

Our breeding decisions are based first on:

• cardiac health testing
• DNA screening
• structure
• temperament
• genetic diversity

These factors have the greatest impact on your puppy’s lifelong health and well-being.

Our Program Moving Forward

As a growing preservation program, we are intentionally building toward future generations that will include AKC-registerable litters from our AKC foundation females, while continuing to preserve the valuable traits found in our current lines.

This long-term approach allows us to:

maintain excellent genetic diversity

improve each generation with purpose and planning
